IC3 Presidential Forum

Presidents and senior educators of educational institutions and business, industry, and governmental leaders from around the world are invited for the 2018 Pre-Conference IC3 Presidential Forum on 28 August 2018 in New Delhi. The IC3 Presidential Forum will feature thought-provoking ideas, with esteemed speakers from research universities, distinguished schools, businesses and industries, covering some of the following areas:

  • What it means to be college-ready and career-ready
  • Defining student success, preparing students for their unknown futures and helping them find their gifts and passions
  • Adapting curriculum and teaching in the 21st century to best address student needs
  • Comparison of pedagogical styles in education
  • How universities can empower a counseling-oriented approach with high schools
  • Finding a shared understanding in the liberal arts experience
  • Making an institution and its students truly global

Dr. George R. Blumenthal

Chancellor, University of California, Santa Cruz, U.S.

Dr. George R. Blumenthal is UC Santa Cruz's 10th chancellor. He joined the campus in 1972 as a faculty member in astronomy and astrophysics, and was named chancellor in 2007. UC Santa Cruz is a top-ranked young university and has become a first-choice destination for a growing number of high school graduates. Since the fall of 2007, the number of applicants for undergraduate admission has more than doubled from 24,400 annually to more than 52,000 in 2017.

Dr. Pratap Bhanu Mehta

Vice-Chancellor, Ashoka University, India

Pratap Bhanu Mehta is Vice-Chancellor, Ashoka University and was previously President, Center for Policy Research. He has been a professor at Harvard, JNU, and the Global Faculty Program at NYU Law School. He is editorial consultant to Indian Express, where he writes a regular column. In addition, he has written for Financial Times, and a number of leading national and international publications. He is on the Editorial Board of American Political Science Review and Journal of Democracy.

Dr. Kenneth G. Furton

Provost and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Florida International University, U.S.

Dr. Kenneth G. Furton, Provost and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, is a leading scholar in forensic chemistry and the founder of FIU's International Forensic Research Institute (IFRI). Dr. Furton served as the dean of FIU’s the College of Arts and Sciences for seven years, where he raised nearly $50 million in philanthropic gifts and garnered $310 million in research grants funding.

Dr. K. Darshan Singh

Mr. K. Darshan Singh has acted as CEO/Director of Pan India Consultants Pvt. Ltd., Naharwar Marketing Services Pvt. Ltd., Clipper Tourism Pvt. Ltd., Lanaka Leasing & Finance Pvt. Professor Brad MacKay

Vice-Principal, International Strategy and External Relations, University of St. Andrews, Scotland

Brad MacKay is Professor of Strategy in the University of St. Andrews School of Management. Formerly, he held a Chair in Strategic Management at the University of Edinburgh Business School, where he was also Director of Engagement on the Executive Team, Head of the Strategy and International Business Department and Director of the MBA programs. He also held an ESRC (Economic and Social Research Council) Senior Fellowship in the Future of the UK and Scotland program.

Professor Janaka Ruwanpura

Vice-Provost International, University of Calgary, Canada

Professor Janaka Ruwanpura is the Vice-Provost International at the University of Calgary (UC). He is a Professor of Project Management (PM) and ex-Canada Research Chair in PM in UC’s Schulich School of Engineering. He has led/implemented new international initiatives such as collaborative degree models, Global Research Initiatives and international development projects for UC to get recognized with four internationalization awards in 5 years.

Dr. Randall C. Deike

Senior Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Success, Drexel University, U.S.

Dr. Deike has spent over 35 years in higher education as a university administrator and faculty member. In his current role, Dr. Deike oversees key aspects of the Drexel student experience from the University’s first contact through graduation, which include Admissions, Student Life, Athletics, Advising, and more. Previously, he was vice president for enrollment management at New York University, vice president of enrollment at Case Western Reserve University, and spent 12 years at Penn State University.

Dr. Sunder Ramaswamy

Vice Chancellor, Krea University, India

Sunder Ramaswamy is the Vice Chancellor of Krea University, a new innovative approach to liberal arts and sciences designed to help students prepare for impactful leadership in a dynamic, uncertain, and complex world of the 21st century. He is working in collaboration with other academics, industrialists, and philanthropists to start operations in August 2019 in Sri City, near Chennai, India.

Ms. Abha Adams

Abha Adams has created an enviable reputation as an innovative educationist. A prolific writer on education and an accomplished orator she has spent over 35 years in education, media and arts management in India and the U.K. As former Director of the Shri Ram Schools and Adviser Education, Step by Step School Noida, she has been instrumental in founding and developing two major educational institutions in the country.

Mr. Ganesh Kohli

Ganesh has established many successful enterprises over the years focused on the engagement/counseling needs of high schools and colleges around the world. Ganesh founded KIC in 1997 as a test preparation and college counseling center for American education. Over the years, he has trained and counseled thousands of students, who have studied at a number of prestigious U.S. institutions. Ganesh is also leading an effort to bring the counseling community together through the IC3 Conference.
